Even a boring job seems good with an amazing co-worker. There is always at least one person with whom you can joke around and bitch about your boss. But that co-worker is not always a human, sometimes it is a cat. The Hospital in Richmond, Australia has started a new tradition of hiring cats.
Meet Elwood! The kitty who is in charge of security and maintaining law and order in the hospital.
In an interview, Elwood’s college Chantel Trollip revealed that the kitty is doing a great and valuable job for the hospital.
Elwood has been hanging around the hospital for a long time before he became the security guard at the hospital. His usual routine includes securing the front and stretching in the sun.
One day, Trollip noticed that Elwood has been hired as a part of the Epworth security team. He was given a proper ID card as well.
When I first saw him, he wasn’t wearing anything, so I assumed he was a stray. Then someone put a collar and tag on him and now most recently he’s got his own ID badge, which is identical to our actual staff badges down to the call codes on the back.
The cat’s interest in securing the public order helped him land this job. He has already been doing his duties diligently.
Elwood is very friendly and lovely kitty. He doesn’t let anyone enter without getting checked. Usually cats are bit lazy, but Elwood likes to move around.
It was assumed that Elwood was a stray kitty, but he lives across the road from the hospital. The tag has given Elwood more authority and respect.
